The white Mercedes Sprinter was parked at Christian Bruckener’s ‘lair’ after Maddie disappeared – and police are investigating it in the hope it may contain DNA or crucial clues.

It was rented to Bruckner by the Rosier dealer between 2014 and 2015, and an employee who took the van back said The sun they “cleaned it and repaired it,” but claimed that “it would not have been stripped of all the DNA.”

The employee said there could be “hair and other traces of anyone kept inside,” which could be found by the German federal police, the BKA.

It was previously claimed that the pedophile, who was living in the Algarve when three-year-old Maddie disappeared in 2007, took a van and two cars back to his home country, where he disposed of them after she disappeared.

Among them was a white Mercedes Sprinter van similar to one police say they owned in Portugal, with photos obtained by The Sun showing it parked in a forest in eastern Germany.

The exact date on which the vehicles were returned to Germany is not known. Sources claim that he often visited a Scrap Yard near his secret hideout, where he was found to have gruesome images and videos.

The owners of the scrap yard, which has since closed, claimed it was no secret that Brueckner had used the site, but police still had not contacted them about him.

Brueckner is believed to have used the van when five-year-old Inga Gerhricke disappeared during a family picnic in 2015. He was investigated by police between 2016 and 2020.

He had no alibi and was involved in an accident the day before the girl, dubbed the ‘German Maddie’. was missing.

The case remains unsolved and Brueckner has not been officially identified as a suspect.

Blonde-haired and blue-eyed Inga Gehricke disappeared on May 2, 2015 during a family barbecue in a forest in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt.

The case quickly drew comparisons to the 2007 disappearance of Madeline McCann, who vanished from her family’s apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, at the age of three.

Despite extensive searches, media reports and national appeals, Inga – like Madeleine – was never found, while the mystery still hangs over Germany today.

At the time of her disappearance, Brueckner was living in a caravan on the site of an abandoned factory in Neuwegersleben, about 70 miles from where Inga disappeared.

Brueckner is currently on trial for a series of crimes on Portugal’s Algarve coast between 2000 and 2017 unrelated to Madeleine’s disappearance.

These include the rape of an Irish holiday representative, a woman aged between 70 and 80, and an unidentified girl aged around 14, as well as the sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl. Brueckner denies all charges against him.

The pedophile had bought an abandoned factory in the former East German settlement of Neuwegersleben, and sources said he was known to store vehicles there.

The scrap yard where he is said to have disposed of his vehicles was located in Helmstedt, a 25-minute drive from the site.

Brueckner was named as a prime suspect in Madeleine’s disappearance

A source told The Sun that the 47-year-old’s white van was “known locally” and used the large rear area to “hook up” with women he met online.

They added: ‘He told me that he regularly took old vehicles to the scrap yard in Helmstedt, but of course no one thought anything of that at the time.’

Brueckner, who lived in a trailer on the factory site, was found to have disturbing videos and images on a memory card when police searched him in 2016.

The owner of the scrap yard told The Sun: ‘German law requires you to keep all data for a minimum of ten years.

“But the thing is, not a single police department came by to ask us anything, which might be surprising.”

Brueckner has been named as a prime suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine, who vanished from Praia da Luz on May 3, 2007.

He has not been charged in her disappearance and has denied having anything to do with it.

Brueckner is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence for the rape of an elderly American woman in the Algarve in 2005 and was jailed in 2019.

He is currently on trial in Germany for a series of sex offenses in Portugal over the course of more than a decade, with two former friends testifying and helping him get convicted before testifying at his retrial.

The victims include holiday representative Hazel Behan, another woman aged between 70 and 80, and an unidentified girl aged around 14, as well as a 10-year-old girl who was allegedly attacked on a beach near where Madeleine disappeared. another child.

The alleged attacks took place just minutes from where then three-year-old Madeleine disappeared in May 2007 from the holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, where she was staying with parents Kate and Gerry and her siblings.
