The Coolest Golf Brand You’ve Never Heard Of: Hazard Hunters

Golf fashion is changing. As the game we all love and play has grown, so have the guidelines of acceptable on-course attire.

Evident by the introduction of hoodies, joggers, and other modern clothing designs on professional golf tours, fashion is becoming a bigger part of the game. Over the past two years, brands like Malbon, Greyson, and others have grown significantly, signing some of the biggest names in golf to their brands.

However, the amateur game is changing, too. People are moving away from the traditional look, as slacks and collared shirts are not necessarily what golfers are looking for. What they also want, however, is a brand with an identity, a liveliness, and a mission that their own ideas align with.

There are a lot of choices out there, but one of them is doing things a little bit different than the others. That’s where Hazard Hunters comes in.

Hazard Hunters: The Story

Hazard Hunters labels itself as a “brand for golf enjoyers.” Golf is supposed to be fun, it’s about getting outside in the weather, enjoying the game and everything that comes with it, with your best friends.

“At our core is camaraderie, built on shared moments and laughter both on and off the course. We swing through the rough, navigate water hazards, and tackle bunkers together, embracing the ups and downs, making every round about more than just the score.”

Captivating the modern golf world with a refreshing take on the game is what Hazard Hunters is all about. There are a lot of brands out there that are looking to capitalize on the fresh, new styles that golf offers without genuinely encapsulating the love and passion that comes with the game. Hazard Hunters is doing it differently.

The Technique

When I first spoke to members of the Hazard Hunters Team, I wanted to know why they chose to build a clothing line for golf.

First things first: Golf is their passion. It’s a fun game that has grown tremendously over the past few years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For most of us, it was our only way to enjoy the camaraderie of our friends in 2020 and 2021.

It goes further than this, though. Most brands just try to captivate people with flashy colors, fresh designs, and a trendy logo. It works, nobody will deny that. But how do people resonate with that brand, in particular.

Hazard Hunters is doing it through their Hazard Hunters: Hunter, Bunkie, and Chippy:

Each of these characters has their own personality, and each one encapsulates a certain portion of the game.

Hunter

Everyone has a Hunter in their foursome. Hunter the Wolf is the cool, calm leader who you can always depend on. This is the guy in your group that hits the ball last, and always comes through when you need to hit a fairway, a green, or sink that last putt.

Bunkie

We all have a Bunkie in our groups, too! Someone to keep things positive. When you’re not playing your best, this is the guy that reminds you that life is still good, because you’re playing golf!

Chippy

What would your group be without a Chippy? We all have that guy who keeps things light and fun. Positivity is needed in your golf group. Chippy keeps things that way.

“Together, they embody the spirit of adventure and camaraderie, making them the heart and soul of the brand.”

The Apparel

I was lucky enough to get some of the samples of Hazard Hunters’ Season 1 lineup. Here are my thoughts:

I received one polo, one T-shirt, one set of their Season 1 ball markers, and a headcover.

Polo

The polo is a traditional cotton polo. Normally, I wouldn’t wear something like this on the course and would opt for something that is a “performance material.”

However, this is a quality, breathable, and versatile polo that has a lot of great features. It is stylish, fits great, and features a great design that is unique and different from most polos you’ll find on the market. It also features a logo of Hunter:

T-Shirt

The Hunter Shank Tee is made of heavyweight cotton and features an ultra-premium feel. I do not have too many t-shirts like this, but the ones that I do are my favorite. I really love the look and feel of this shirt, and I enjoy that it features Hunter!

Ball Markers

The three ball markers in the Season 1 collection are awesome. They are a tad thicker than your normal ball marker, and are more comparable to the thickness of a silver dollar than a quarter.

You get three in a pack and I broke the first one in (of course, with Hunter on it) on Sunday.

Headcover

I was super excited with the headcover because in my first calls with Hazard Hunters I said that their idea for characters would ultimately be a great way to push more gear out the door. People will find a character cool or resonate with its “personality” and want that for their bag. I hope they decide to do something like Frank, who is Tiger Woods’ headcover, with these characters.

The headcover is SUPER quality, thick, and keeps your driver head warm. I played in 30 degree weather on Sunday and I didn’t have an issue with my driver getting chilly and ringing my fingers after a mishit.

It fits the bag nicely and I really like the “Way Over Par” slogan on the backside of it.

Hazard Hunters Final Thoughts

Golf is supposed to be fun, and that’s truly what this brand is. All of us look for brands to favor when we need clothing or equipment, but eventually one will come along that you really like. That’s sort of how I feel about Hazard Hunters because of how they operate their business strategy. Of course, there are brands I really like because of their functionality, fit, and style. Hazard Hunters is a brand that you will support if you find their characters and their look favorable.

Golf is fun. Let it be that way!
