Chris DiMarco said that the purses on the PGA Tour Champions are “kind of a joke” and that he’s hopeful LIV Golf will buy it.
On the Subpar Podcast, DiMarco commented that the Tour, which features some of the legends of the previous decades on the PGA Tour, is not offering substantial purses for wins.

He said:
“Let’s play for a little real money out here. I mean, this is kind of a joke when we’re getting $2 million. There were like seven guys last week from TPC (Sawgrass) that made more money than our purses.”
DiMarco is best known for his incredible run from 2004 to 2006 on the PGA Tour, where he finished 2nd to Tiger Woods in the 2005 Masters, losing to him in a playoff after his legendary chip-in on the 16th hole, 2nd at the 2004 PGA Championship, T-9 at the 2004 U.S. Open, and 2nd at the 2006 Open Championship.
DiMarco won 8 times professionally and 3 times on the PGA Tour.
His solution for the low purses on the Champions Tour is for LIV Golf to buy it, which would drastically increase the amount of money players are paid.
“We’re kind of hoping that LIV buys the Champions Tour.”
Not everyone is on board with his point of view.

Plenty of others do not see eye-to-eye with DiMarco. It is obvious ever since LIV came along, the price of play has gone up, which is why the PGA Tour has adapted by offering elevated events and mandatory appearances from some players.
However, putting things into perspective, nobody on the Champions Tour is hurting for money, and playing golf for $2 million is not so bad. After all, you play golf for a living.
