Ghana's ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have brought their political campaigns to the annual Kwahu Easter Festivities, traditionally known for its celebration of Christian rituals and cultural gatherings.

As throngs of Ghanaians converge on the Kwahu ridge for the festivities, both parties have seized the opportunity to engage in street campaigns, walks, and rallies, aiming to win over attendees ahead of the crucial December 7 National Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The NPP kicked off their campaign activities with a Unity Walk and Rally led by their flagbearer, Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia. According to Mr. Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the NPP, the event was designed to foster unity among party members and to galvanize support for the party's chosen candidates. Frimpong emphasized the party's readiness to “break the eight” – a reference to securing a third consecutive term in office.

On the other hand, the NDC organized a street outreach led by Mr. George Opare Addo, the National Youth Organizer of the party. Addo explained that this initiative was part of the NDC's strategy to connect with Ghanaians in Kwahu and communicate the party's policies and intentions. He highlighted the opportunity to engage with the public amidst the festive atmosphere and address the economic challenges facing the country.

The Kwahu Easter Festivities, a cherished event on Ghana's annual calendar, draw celebrants from both within the country and abroad. Traditionally centred around Christian rituals and cultural ceremonies, the event has now seen the infusion of political activities with partying and merrymaking along the streets of principal towns like Mpraeso, Obomeng, and Abetifi.
